Iowa releases latest COVID-19 test results

The University of Iowa continues to update the public on its ongoing COVID-19 test screenings. This week, there was a little more optimism regarding the results.
According to a release on Monday, Iowa’s athletic department conducted 70 COVID-19 tests for the week of July 13-19. Of those administered, 69 were returned with negative results while one tested positive for the virus.
Since testing began on May 29 when student-athletes began filtering back on campus, Iowa has administered 513 tests. There have been 26 positive results with 487 negative results.
“Following the positive test result, protocol established by UI Athletics and medical staff, including contact tracing procedures, is being followed to ensure the safety of all UI Athletics student-athletes and staff,” the school said in a statement. “This mandatory protocol also includes isolation for the individuals who test positive, and quarantine for those individuals who might have been exposed to someone with the virus.”
Last week, Iowa conducted 30 screenings and returned four positive tests with 26 negative results.
