A West Coast bowl game with a B1G connection has been canceled.
On Friday afternoon, Brett McMurphy of Stadium reported that the Redbox Bowl has been canceled following the 2020 season. The game features teams from the B1G and Pac-12 at the end of every regular season. Last year, Cal defeated Illinois in the bowl game.
With the announcement, there are now 41 FBS bowl games scheduled for the conclusion of the 2020 season, though there’s a good possibility more cancellations will come in the future.
.@RedboxBowl will not be played this year. Game was scheduled to feature Big 10 vs. Pac-12, so now we’re down to 41 FBS bowls. Please adjust your schedules accordingly

The Redbox Bowl is played in Santa Clara, California at Levi’s Stadium. The game has been played in that stadium since 2014.
Before Redbox became the title sponsor for the bowl game in 2018, it had four previous names: San Francisco Bowl, Emerald Bowl, Fight Hunger Bowl and Foster Farms Bowl.
The B1G has had a tie-in to the Redbox Bowl since the 2014 season, with the league having a 3-4 record in the game. Wins have come from Illinois (2011), Nebraska (2015) and Purdue (2017).
