Report: HS football moving to spring in Minnesota

There will not be high school football in the state of Minnesota this fall. A report from Jim Paulsen of the Star Tribune says the sport will move to a spring schedule for the 2020-21 academic year.
On Tuesday, the Minnesota State High School League’s Board of Directors voted to move the football season from fall to spring for the upcoming calendar year. The move was made due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and was approved by a 13-5 vote.
Football next spring:
12 week season, 6 games.
Dates not set, but likely March thru May
No scrimmages

According to Paulsen, the high school football season will be a 12-week season that consists of 6 games. No dates have yet been set, but it’s likely to take place from March through May.
It’s still unclear if there will be a statewide tournament or championship for the season.
States have been left to make the decision about fall sports seasons on their own. Some are planning to move forward with fall sports as planned, while others are switching to a spring schedule.
