Report: B1G presidents, chancellors meeting on fall sports, momentum building to cancel season

Just a few days ago, the B1G released its revised 10-game conference schedule for the 2020 season, providing some hope that we’d see teams on the field in early September. But that idea appears to be on life support.
On Sunday afternoon, multiple reports indicate that B1G presidents and chancellors are meeting on Sunday afternoon to discuss a plan for fall sports. It’s unclear whether any decision will be made at the meeting, however, Yahoo’s Pete Thamel indicates that there’s growing momentum to cancel the season.
In addition, ESPN reported that Power 5 commissioners held an emergency meeting on Sunday regarding the status of fall sports.
The was a break in the dam over the weekend, when the MAC became the first FBS conference to announce it would delay fall sports on Saturday. The league is attempting to have the football season in the spring, though it’s going to be difficult to pull off.
Also on Saturday, B1G presidents met via conference call to discuss fall sports. It was reported by Detroit Free Press reporter David Jesse that commissioner Kevin Warren was in favor of a spring football season.
The B1G was the first Power 5 conference to make the switch to a conference-only season. It may be the first major conference to eliminate college football in 2020, as well.
