Urban Meyer says ‘no chance’ B1G can play football in spring

The B1G says it will make an attempt to play football in the spring after cancelling the 2020 fall season. But former head coach and current analyst Urban Meyer doesn’t think that’s responsible.
Meyer joined Big Ten Network on Tuesday, not long after the conference made it’s decision to postpone fall sports. The former Buckeye leader was adamant that a spring season wasn’t feasible for football student-athletes.
“No chance,” Meyer said on the possibility of playing football in spring. “You can’t ask student-athletes to play two seasons in one calendar year.”
Spring football has often been thought of as a last resort for the conferences in college football. While it would certainly be better than nothing, there probably are too many obstacles standing in the way.
Along with attempting to fit two seasons into a one-year window, it would also bump up against fall and spring sports, the NFL Scouting Combine and the NFL Draft.
Meyer has kept that stance for quite some time now. He isn’t changing his mind now that the B1G canceled its season.
