There was some good news in East Lansing for Mel Tucker and his staff this weekend. The Spartans were able to add to their recruiting class on Sunday.

Michigan State received a pledge from 3-star defensive end Alex Okelo over the weekend, a native of Nashville, Tennessee. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound lineman held 11 total offers on the recruiting front, several of which were from Power 5 programs.

Okelo announced his commitment with a post on Twitter.

Okelo currently ranks as the No. 56 weak-side defensive end in the 2021 class and is the No. 26 prospect out of the state of Tennessee. He picked Michigan State over offers from Florida State, Indiana, Kansas and Kentucky, among others.

Michigan State is now up to 12 pledges in the 2021 class. The Spartans rank 63rd nationally and 13th in the B1G.
