No announcement of Kevin Warren’s son opting out of season as Mississippi State opens fall camp

Fall camp is underway in the SEC. And while most probably won’t care about that in B1G country as we continue to cope with the fact that there will be no football for the league this fall, there’s one nugget that fans from around the conference will find interesting.
Mississippi State opened its fall camp on Tuesday. Powers Warren, the son of B1G commissioner Kevin Warren, is a redshirt junior tight end for the Bulldogs heading into the 2020 season. As far as we know, he’s still practicing.
To be clear, there is a chance that Powers has opted out of the season and is not participating in team activities. However, there has been no announcement from the tight end, the Misssissippi State football team or the athletic department, if that’s the case.
Leach says he's not aware of any players opting out of the season, but that players are welcome to do so.

Knowing that the elder Warren is comfortable with his son practicing right now will rub many in the B1G the wrong way. After all, the B1G commissioner helped release a revised, conference only schedule just two weeks ago, saying he felt comfortable enough with protocols and testing procedures to let his own son move forward with football.
Six days later, Warren announced that the season has been postponed until spring, with very little explanation.
Powers Warren is an adult, full capable of making his own decisions. That can’t be held against him. But many aren’t going to like the fact that Kevin Warren, as well as B1G presidents, made the decision for thousands of other adults in the B1G, also capable of making their own decisions.
