Maryland wide receiver DJ Turner will no longer suit up for the Terrapins. After four seasons with the program, he’s looking to finish his career elsewhere.

On Friday morning, Turner announced on Twitter that he has decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal. The decision comes more than a week after the B1G opted to cancel the 2020 fall football season and move towards a spring schedule.

“After the decision that was made by the B1G to postpone the season, my family and I weighed the options to determine what the best course of action would be to put myself in the best situation during these tough times,” Turner wrote. “After careful consideration I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal. This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but I do believe it’s what’s best for me and my family.

“Again, I am very thankful to the University of Maryland and everyone who has had a permanent impact on my life!”

In four seasons at Maryland, Turner accounted for 294 yards and a touchdown on 24 receptions. He also totaled 107 punt return yards and a touchdown, as well as an additional 29 rushing yards with the Terrapins.

Turner will have one year of eligibility remaining. It’s unclear whether or not Turner is looking to transfer to a program that is still scheduled to have football this fall.
