Maryland defensive back Sean Davis goes to Steelers at No. 58

In a rare sequence of events, the Pittsburgh Steelers needed help in their secondary. They turned to one of the most explosive defensive backs in the draft.
The Steelers locked up Maryland DB Sean Davis with the No. 58 pick.

He was the Terps first defensive player selected since 2010. Davis played both cornerback and safety at Maryland, and he racked up a whopping 298 tackles in his career in College Park. He was also second in the nation with five forced fumbles as a senior.
Davis was the second B1G defensive back and the conference’s 12th player to come off the board.
He’ll step into a Pittsburgh secondary as a possible starter right away. It remains to be seen what position he’ll play at the next level. Davis could project more as a safety, but in the pass-heavy NFL, he figures to provide value somewhere immediately.
Maryland could have another playing coming off the board soon. Pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue is still on the board, as is Quinton Jefferson.
