Michigan Athletics releases latest updates from COVID-19 testing

Michigan has released the latest information in regards to its COVID-19 testing within the athletic department. It has provided weekly updates as student-athletes, coaches and staff have returned to campus in Ann Arbor.

According to the release from Michigan’s athletic department, a total of 616 tests were administered between Aug. 22-28, and the school received 3 positive results. Included in the testing were all student-athletes, staff and coaches.

“These figures span all student-athletes currently on campus for optional workouts,” the school said. “With classes scheduled to resume Monday, Aug. 31, U-M has student-athletes on campus for most of our varsity sports.”

In total, Michigan’s athletic department has administered 2,550 tests with 42 positives. There have been 2,200 tests administered for student-athletes with 39 positives.

There have been 350 tests conducted among staff and coaches, with 3 positive results.
