Kirk Herbstreit is one of the most plugged-in analysts in college football. And yet, the longtime ESPN personality and former Ohio State quarterback is just as confused as the rest of us.

On the ESPN College Football podcast, Herbstreit says he’s clueless as to what’s going on in the B1G right now. And with reports about the conference entertaining a spring season beginning in January, as well as a potential Thanksgiving week start, it’s all been very confusing.

There is big news coming to the upcoming 2022-23 Big Ten football season (and NFL season). Ohio online sports betting and Maryland sports betting are on the way.

“They want answers and a chance to play,” Herbstreit said, according to 247Sports. “I don’t know what the hell is going on. I don’t think anybody does. We’ve heard this rumor they might play at Thanksgiving. I don’t get it. Why not play right now if you’re going to play at Thanksgiving?”

More confusion was added to Tuesday morning, when President Donald Trump tweeted about a “productive conversation” with B1G commissioner Kevin Warren about rebooting fall football in the B1G.

“Had a very productive conversation with Kevin Warren, Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference, about immediately starting up Big Ten football,” Trump tweeted. “Would be good (great!) for everyone – Players, Fans, Country. On the one yard line!”

There has been no news on the situation from the B1G at this time. Warren has said that the decision made by the league’s presidents and chancellors is final and that the conference will not revisit a fall schedule.

But with pressure coming from the White House, there could be a chance the B1G rethinks its options.
