California University of Pennsylvania defensive lineman Jamain Stephens died on Tuesday. Both the university and Stephens’ former high school reported the news. He was 20 years old.

Stephens was a senior on the football team and was studying business administration at California University of Pennsylvania. He is the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Jamain Stephens.

In the statement released from the university, a cause of death was not disclosed. However, in a post from Central Catholic on Facebook (his former high school), it was said that Stephens passed away from complications with COVID-19. The school has since amended that post.

“Jamain was such a wonderful student with a smile on his face every time you saw him,” said California University Athletic Director Karen Hjerpe. “His personality was contagious and he made such a positive impact on everyone he met.”

Stephens played in all 32 games of his career at the school from 2017-19, according to the statement.
