It’s early in the football season, but a high school football game in Alabama may win the award for wildest finish in 2020.
Friday night, Hillcrest and Wetumpka battled in a hard-fought contest, which came down to the final play. Hillcrest trailed Wetumpka 30-28 with 3 seconds left in the game and with the football on their own 41-yard line.
After quarterback Ethan Crawford got rid of the football, a flurry of laterals followed, resulting in Crawford getting the ball again and sprinting 44 yards to the end zone for a game-winning touchdown.

A total of nine laterals and fumbles came on the final play of the game. What a thrilling finish for Hillcrest and a disappointing outcome for Wetumpka.
This is just another example of why it’s awesome to have football back.
