The 2020 preseason poll included teams from the conferences not playing — primarily the B1G and Pac-12 — but that will no longer be the case. With actual football taking place now, the four leagues that have postponed the college football season will not be eligible for the rankings.

We’re two weeks into the season, with teams from five of the six conferences still playing fall football have participated in at least one contest. The SEC is the odd man out, with games not beginning until Sept. 26. But because the SEC is still planning to play, its teams are still eligible for the rankings.

But back to football.

Week 2 marked the first time Power 5 teams were in action this season, with six games featuring ranked teams on the docket. Five of those squads won their matchups, with the outlier being No. 23 Iowa State, which suffered a 31-14 loss to Louisiana in Ames.

In ACC action, top-ranked Clemson defeated Wake Forest 37-13 and No. 10 Notre Dame held off Duke 27-13, while No. 18 North Carolina won its opener against Syracuse 31-6. Over in the Big 12, No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 14 Texas had no troubles with their Week 1 opponents. The Sooners clobbered Missouri State 48-0 and Texas slashed UTEP 59-3.
