Joe Burrow’s first TD as an NFL QB comes on 23-yard run

Joe Burrow accounted for his first NFL touchdown before the first quarter ended in his first game as the starting quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. And it came in impression fashion, too.

Making his NFL debut on Sunday, Burrow and the Bengals were hosting the Los Angeles Chargers in the first week of the season. With the game scoreless in the final three minutes of the first quarter, Burrow took the snap on a 2nd-and-10 for a designed QB run.

Burrow didn’t stop until he hit the end zone.

The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback sprinted 23 yards to the goal line, evading defenders on the way to his first touchdown in the professional ranks. It was a thing of beauty:

That’s a pretty good way to start a career.

Burrow’s run capped a 5-play, 44-yard drive that took 1:35. Burrow also completed 1-of-3 passes on the drive for 13 yards before the 23-yard touchdown run.

Burrow was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2020 NFL Draft after leading LSU to a 15-0 record and a national championship.
