Drew Brees breaks another NFL passing record in Saints’ victory over Bucs

Drew Brees is the owner of another NFL passing record. He topped another statistical category in career passing during New Orleans’ season opener against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

On Brees’ ninth pass of the afternoon, he leap Brett Favre as the NFL career leader in all-time attempts. The new record was set at 10,170 on Sunday, but the future Hall of Famer is now at 10,191 career attempts following Sunday’s victory.

Brees completed 18-of-30 pass attempts for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns as New Orleans defeated Tampa Bay 34-23.

Brees has shattered NFL passing records over the last three seasons with the Saints. In addition to all-time pass attempts, the former Purdue star is the record-holder for:

  • TD passes
  • Passing yards
  • Completions
  • Completion percentage
  • First downs
  • Completions of 25+ yards

As the season goes on, Brees’ numbers will only continue to increase.

New Orleans is back in action on Monday, Sept. 21 when it travels to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders. Both teams enter the Monday Night Football matchup with a 1-0 record.
