Paul Finebaum says B1G vote must come by Wednesday

If the B1G still wants its shot at the College Football Playoff, a decision to resume the fall season has to come soon, according to SEC Network host Paul Finebaum. The longtime voice of college football says the conference is losing precious time.
Making an appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Finebaum said that the B1G cannot wait any longer before making a decision. Presidents and chancellors have been in conversations about a potential restart since Saturday, but no decision has been reached.
“If the Big Ten starts on October 17 — and they need to make that decision today or tomorrow. You can’t wait any longer to get everybody back within a month — then if you have postponements of significant proportion, it could really upset the apple cart,” Finebaum said. “But I don’t think the College Football Playoff wants to delay to wait for anyone else to show up. They have to do it now.”
New developments in medical advice and information, as well as the availability of rapid testing, have been the primary reasons behind the B1G’s discussions about potentially restarting the season. Over the weekend, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported that things “went well” when the presidents and chancellors met with the medical subcommittee, but no vote was made.
There was hope that the B1G would come to a decision on Monday, but again no vote was taken.
Could Tuesday be the day? Finebaum believes it needs to come soon. The clock is ticking on the B1G.
