B1G’s reported schedule plan won’t include any bye weeks

The B1G has reversed course and will be reinstated the college football season this fall. According to Yahoo’s Pete Thamel, the league plans to start the season on the weekend of Oct. 24.
Based on that schedule, the B1G will attempt to squeeze in eight games in eight consecutive weeks, meaning no off weeks for the league’s 14 teams. The conference championship game will be scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19, meaning two teams will play nine games in nine weeks.

While it’s a jam-packed schedule, it will allow the B1G to be in contention for the College Football Playoff. The selection committee’s final rankings are scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 20.
It had previously been reported that the B1G would be starting the season on the weekend of Oct. 17, which would provide every team with one bye week throughout the season. However, the Oct. 24 start date will allow teams in the conference to have an extra week of preparation in “fall camp” before kicking off.
An official announcement from the B1G is expected Wednesday.
