A bizarre situation at Illinois State that unfolded recently has left the FCS program looking for a new offensive coordinator.

According to The Pantagraph, Illinois State offensive coordinator Kurt Beathard resigned on Wednesday, which he confirmed a day later. The sudden decision to leave the programs was complete with him leaving a sign on his office door that read “All Lives Matter to Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.”

Per the report, a “Black Lives Matter” poster was removed from the Illinois State locker room. However, Beathard said he had nothing to do with that:

“That locker room crap is wrong. I took the sign down somebody put on my door. That’s it,” Beathard said. “I didn’t take anything off that wasn’t put on my door. I wrote the message.”

Beathard is the uncle of former Iowa Hawkeyes and current San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard. He had two separate runs at Illinois State, serving as the offensive coordinator from 2014-15 and again from 2018 until this week.

Illinois State is coached by Brock Spack, who was a longtime defensive coordinator at Purdue.
