Winfield carved out a starting role with the Buccaneers before the team’s season opener against New Orleans. Tampa is off to a 2-1 start this season, thanks in large part because of the rookie safety’s contributions on the field.
Winfield was a second-round selection for the Bucs during the 2020 NFL Draft, selected No. 45 overall. His draft stock seriously climbed after a magnificent season with Minnesota in 2019, totaling 88 tackles, seven interceptions, three sacks and two forced fumbles.
Tampa is back in action this Sunday when it takes on the Los Angeles Chargers.
