There’s already been one Top 5 team take a plunge this weekend with No. 4 Florida falling to Texas A&M, could we see another? With a strong second half from Ole Miss, it’s entirely possible.
Ole Miss entered Saturday’s matchup against No. 2 Alabama as a heavy underdog, but the Rebels aren’t backing down in front of a home crowd. Through the first 30 minutes of the game, Ole Miss and Alabama are tied at 21-21. Perhaps more surprisingly, Lane Kiffin’s team never trailed in the first two quarters.
It was a pretty clean first half, with only 3 penalties committed through the entire first half, and only one turnover, as well. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral completed 11-of-16 pass attempts for 148 yards and a touchdowns while Snoop Conner led the way on the ground with 85 yards and a score on 8 carries.
Alabama’s Mac Jones had 236 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-19 passing in the first half, hitting star receiver Devonta Smith 7 times for 105 yards and a touchdown. Both Najee Harris and Brian Robinson Jr. had a rushing touchdown.
The Crimson Tide entered the game 2-0 while the Rebels were 1-1.
Earlier in the day, No. 21 Texas A&M defeated 4th-ranked Florida 41-38 on a game-winning field goal from Seth Small as time expired.
