Report: Buckeyes freshman LB suffers season-ending injury

Highly-touted freshman linebacker Kourt Williams is going to have to wait another year to start his career at Ohio State.
Lettermen Row reported on Saturday morning that Williams sustained a season-ending knee injury during fall camp. The four-star linebacker was one of the first members of the 2020 recruiting class to lose his black stripe this fall.
Williams was the first defensive player to have the stripe removed, officially making him a Buckeye.
Based on his performance through fall camp and during the offseason, it was believed that Williams would work his way into the linebacker rotation in some capacity as a freshman. Instead, he’ll have to wait until the 2021 season before he sees the field for the first time in an Ohio State uniform.
Per 247Sports, Williams was ranked as one of the Top 200 overall prospects in the 2020 recruiting class, coming in at No. 166 overall. The 4-star linebacker was listed as the No. 12 player at his position and was a Top 20 player out of the state of California.
Ohio State is set to open the 2020 campaign at home against Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 24.
