Clemson had absolutely no trouble with Georgia Tech on Saturday, as the top-ranked Tigers embarrassed the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta.
Trevor Lawrence threw for 404 yards and 5 touchdown passes, leading No. 1 Clemson to a 73-7 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday. Dabo Swinney’s bunch is now 5-0 on the season, winning all five contests by at least three scores.
Saturday’s 66-point victory for Clemson was the largest margin of victory in ACC history featuring two teams from the conference.
Clemson ended the day with 500 passing yards and a total of 671 yards of offense. It converted 29 first downs and held onto the football for 35:53 in the game.
Georgia Tech totaled just 204 yards and picked up 204 yards of offense throughout the entire game.
Early in the first quarter, the two teams were tied at 7-7 and Georgia Tech had forced a fumble on Clemson’s first possession. On Clemson’s third possession of the game, Lawrence connected with Amari Rodgers on an 83-yard touchdown pass, giving the Tigers a 14-7 advantage.
It was over after that.
The Tigers led 17-7 at the end of the first quarter and broke the game wide open in the second quarter, scoring 35 points and taking a 52-7 advantage into the locker room.
Next week, Clemson is back home to take on Syracuse (1-4).
