Kirk Ferentz took time during his Tuesday press conference to compliment the updated testing approach by the B1G as teams get ready for their first game week.
For Ferentz and the Hawkeyes, they are getting ready to open the season with a game against Purdue. Unfortunately for Purdue, head coach Jeff Brohm is in isolation after a positive COVID-19 test and will not be on the sideline for the season opener.
Ferentz wished Brohm all the best and a safe recovery moving forward before lauding the B1G’s testing approach. According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Ferentz labeled the approach a “game changer” and believes it is arguably the best system in use across sports today.
Kirk Ferentz says he thinks the Big Ten's testing approach has been "the game changer," and says it might be the best system out there, including what's being done in the NFL.
Again, there will be positive tests. Idea is no major outbreaks.

Hopefully the testing approach holds up throughout the course of the season. Conferences and teams across the country have already seen a number of games postponed or canceled due to positive cases. It will be interesting to see if the delayed start and the new testing approach yields better results for the B1G.
