Ohio State’s Ryan Day apologizes to Scott Frost for scoring late TD in blowout win

Ohio State took care of business with a 52-17 victory over Nebraska on Saturday afternoon, but Buckeye coach Ryan Day found himself apologizing in the postgame press conference.
Day’s apology was directed toward Nebraska coach Scott Frost for scoring a late touchdown that slightly inflated the final score.
With 18 seconds remaining, freshman backup quarterback Jack Miller III ran it in from the two yard line for the final score of the game. Day said he should have just taken a knee in that situation.

All week long, there’s been a mutual respect expressed between these two schools for a joint effort that helped ensure the Big Ten would play a season this fall.
Frost’s team looked like it might hang around early on, but the Buckeyes exploded for 28 second-half points to seal a big victory.
Ohio State QB Justin Fields was excellent in the win, completing 20-of-21 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 54 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
This was Ohio State’s sixth straight victory over the Huskers, and their eighth overall in nine meetings. Nebraska hasn’t won a game vs the Buckeyes since 2011, and that streak will now continue for at least one more season.
Next week, Ohio State travels to Penn State while Nebraska will host Wisconsin.
