Penn State’s first touchdown drive of the season was one for the books.
After three consecutive plays with the same look, Nittany Lion Quarterback Sean Clifford faked a handoff to Devyn Ford, and connected with a wide-open Pat Freirmuth for a 2-yard touchdown and an early 7-0 led over Indiana.
The stat line will read that the opening drive went 13 plays and 64 yards, including 10 running plays and ate up 7:01 of game time. But what will be remembered is the catch in the endzone was the 16th of Freirmuth’s career at Penn State, and represents a new school record for touchdowns by a tight end.
Freirmuth entered the season, just his junior campaign, tied with Mike Gesicki with 15 career scoring receptions.
