Former Illini OL making first NFL start Sunday

Former Illinois offensive lineman Nick Allegretti has made it to the show.
He’s expected to make his first career NFL start on Sunday when his Kansas City Chiefs battle the Denver Broncos.

Allegretti was a 7th round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Chiefs. He’s played in 13 games so far for the Super Bowl Champions, but this will be his first start.
While at Illinois, Allegretti was a two-time captain and made All Big Ten second team in 2018. He also received the Big Ten Medal of Honor in 2018 and won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in the same year.
The Chiefs have had some injuries to their offensive line this season. Mostly notably, starting guard Kelechi Osemele, who suffered an injury in the Chiefs’ loss to the Raiders two weeks ago.
Kickoff between the Chiefs and Broncos is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET.
