ESPN’s FPI predicts Halloween showdown for Ohio State-Penn State

Well, the Big Ten started the season with a bang.
The opening Saturday action for the conference began with No. 5 Ohio State making their case as national championship contenders with a 52-17 domination of Nebraska. Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields had a big day, completing 20 of 21 passes covering 276 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Fields also led the Buckeyes in rushing with 54 yards on 15 carries.
For Penn State, the story was different. The Nittany Lions could have iced the game against Indiana with less than two minutes left if Devyn Ford hadn’t taken the ball into the endzone while the Indiana defense stood and watched, to give the Hoosiers an opportunity to tie it up on a final drive.
Rather, the Hoosiers tied it up at the end of regulation. Penn State scored a touchdown on their first possession of OT, but Indiana found the end zone as well and completed the game-winning, two-point conversion to win the game 36-35.
Now that the dust has settled, it is time to look ahead to a thrilling matchup between the two teams next weekend. After everything that has happened, the Nittany Lions will enter the contest as slightly larger underdogs to the Buckeyes. According to ESPN’s FPI, the Buckeyes are now given a 79.0% chance of coming away from Happy Valley with a win in Week 2.
