The game scored an astounding 36.7 rating in Columbus and also did well in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Detroit.
This was a close game for most of the first half before Ohio State started to pull away. The Buckeyes led 24-14 at the break but exploded for a 28-3 advantage in the second half.
In addition to Ohio State’s enormous following, the Buckeyes are led by Heisman Trophy finalist in Justin Fields. It’s not surprising that fans were curious what Fields and Ohio State would look like during the first week of Big Ten action.
Expect Ohio State to score a huge rating next week, too. The Buckeyes are playing in the game of the week at Penn State on Saturday night. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
