After dropping their season opener to Purdue, Iowa will have its home-opener this weekend against Northwestern. Northwestern is fresh off its 43-3 shellacking of Maryland while Iowa lost 24-20.

With Iowa returning home, head coach Kirk Ferentz had a couple of things to say today during his press conference, one of them being about “The Wave”:

The Wave was started back in September of 2017 when Iowa fans waved to patients and families in the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The families and patients all waved back and it’s been a tradition ever since.

We’re usually accustomed to seeing 70,000 Hawkeye fans do “The Wave” inside Kinnick Stadium, but for their games this season, it’ll only be between 10,000-15,000 due to the coronavirus.

Iowa will also be getting back Max Cooper for this game, according to Ferentz:

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
