It was a tale of two halves for Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan during the Week 1 loss against visiting Michigan.
Morgan came out sharp by completing 80 percent of his passes for 84 yards and a touchdown in the first half.
However, after halftime Morgan regressed to only complete 37 percent of his passes and a threw an interception.
As a result, a Minnesota squad which was a trendy pick by many to defeat Michigan, instead suffered a lopsided loss, and enters Week 2 of the B1G slate in search of answers.
Morgan takes complete ownership for the defeat and is using it as learning experience.
“At the end of the day, things run through me, and I have to be better for our team to be successful, and I will be,” Morgan said to The Twin Cities. “That’s just kind of what we’re practicing, doing the little things and kind of getting back into it.”
Morgan was one of the nation’s best quarterbacks last season. A one-game sample size isn’t wide enough to analyze what Morgan is capable of this season. The important thing is that Morgan recognizes how to improve and applies on Friday night at Maryland (6:30 p.m. CST/ESPN).
Maryland is coming off a 43-3 blowout loss at Northwestern.
With both teams in pursuit of their first victory of the season, the nationally televised game should be extremely competitive.
