Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst is among the Badgers who have tested positive for COVID-19 since Saturday, the program announced Wednesday morning.

Chryst, 54, joins Purdue coach Jeff Brohm as Big Ten coaches who have tested positive for the virus. Brohm missed his team’s game last week vs. Iowa but is expected back before Week 2.

In total, the Badgers say they’ve had 12 positive tests since their win over Illinois in Week 1. Earlier on Wednesday, they cancelled their game with Nebraska and were forced to shut down their program for seven days.

“This morning I received the news that I had tested positive via a PCR test I took yesterday,” Chryst said in the release. “I informed my staff and the team this morning and am currently isolating at home. I had not been experiencing any symptoms and feel good as of this morning.

“I’m disappointed for our players and coaching staff who put so much into preparing to play each week. But the safety of everyone in our program has to be our top priority and I support the decision made to pause our team activities.”

As of now, Wisconsin’s game vs. Purdue in Week 3 is still on.
