The state of Indiana has alwasy been known for basketball, but after Saturday’s games a pair of teams from the Hoosier state have opened the season with 2-0 records.
The last time this happened Richard Nixon was President.
First step was for Purdue to hold off a late surge by Illinois in Champaign, coming away with a 31-24 victory. Then a couple hours later, Indiana finished off Rutgers with a 37-24 win at High Points Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, and they each assumed the top spots in the Big Ten East (Indiana) and West (Purdue) Divisions.
The pair join Northwestern as the only teams logging two games without a loss so far this season – Ohio State takes on Penn State Saturday night at Happy Valley, so that remains to be seen? Wisconsin, while winning their first game last week over Illinois, had their game scheduled for week two cancelled over COVID-19 issues.
Purdue is scheduled to take on Wisconsin next weekend, teantively , while Indiana hosts a struggling Michigan team.
Indiana is set to host Purdue on December 12, at Memorial Stadium.
Don't look now, but Purdue and Indiana are both (2-0) in Big Ten play for the first time since 1972.
