Ryan Day says officials ‘completely mismanaged’ end of 1st half in Ohio State-Penn State game

Even though Ohio State beat Penn State by 13 last night, it could’ve been by more had Penn State not gotten a field goal with one second left in the first half.
On fourth down with two seconds left, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields took a knee and the entire Buckeye team started jogging to the locker room with a 21-3 lead. Penn State stayed on the field and thanks to replay review, it showed that there was still one second left in the half.
Penn State ended up kicking a 50-yard field goal to cut the Buckeyes’ lead to 21-6 going into the intermission.
After the game, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day let his frustrations out about that play.
Via Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors, Day said, “Probably the most bizarre thing I’ve ever experienced. When there’s two seconds left on the clock, we took a long knee, probably took four seconds off the clock so it was completely mismanaged, I don’t know what to say. There’s two seconds left on the clock, we take the snap and Justin waits, waits, waits, waits, waits, and then takes a knee. I don’t know how that took one second.”
It didn’t make a difference in the end but it was still enough for there to be controversy around it.
