Northwestern has been excellent to start the season, and metrics like ESPN’s FPI have noticed.
The Wildcats’ defense is especially formative, having dominated Maryland and Iowa to start the season. In fact, SP+ rates Northwestern as the No. 3 defense in the country to this point in the season.
Quarterback Peyton Ramsey has also been effective as a game manager. Through two games, the Indiana transfer has completed 70.8 percent of his passes and has thrown just one interception.
Here’s how ESPN thinks the rest of the year will go for Northwestern:
- Vs. Nebraska (68.2 percent)
- @ Purdue (65.1 percent)
- Vs. Wisconsin (17.1 percent)
- @ Michigan State (79.5 percent)
- @ Minnesota (76.5 percent)
- Vs. Illinois (84.2 percent)
If FPI is correct, that would give the Wildcats an excellent 7-1 regular season record and could land them in the Big Ten Championship Game depending on what happens with Nebraska’s season.
Northwestern’s Week 3 matchup vs. Nebraska kicks off at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
