Well, B1G fans now all know who Rocky Lombardi is, and even more are taking notice.
After leading the Spartans to an upset victory over rival Michigan on Saturday, the redshirt-junior signal caller for Michigan State earned a pair of national honors. Lombardi was named to the Manning Award Stars of the Week, as well as to the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award’s Great 8 list.
Lombardi’s 323 yards against the Wolverines was the third-highest total by an MSU quarterback against Michigan, and he has now thrown for at least one touchdown in four of his five starts, including three TD’s against Michigan. In both games so far this season, he has has thrown for multiple touchdowns.
With an average of 321.0 yards per game, Lombardi ranks second in the Big Ten and eighth in the FBS in passing yards. He is also 33rd in the nation in passing yards per completion (13.38).
Lombardi and the Spartans will look to carry the momentum from their win over Michigan when they travel to Iowa this Saturday for an 11am scheduled kickoff.
