Barry Alvarez, Wisconsin administration still trying to pinpoint source of outbreak

The Wisconsin football team had to cancel its second consecutive game Tuesday afternoon as the coronavirus has spread its way through the team.
The Badgers had just one positive test on the Wednesday before the team’s opener with Illinois, and as of Tuesday morning Wisconsin had 27 active cases of COVID-19. Currently the football program is working with a doctor on the University of Wisconsin campus to attempt to track the source of the virus.

Athletic director Barry Alvarez has said that attempts are being made to identify the source of the outbreak, but so far there has been no solid answer.
“He’s trying to help us,” Alvarez said told reporters on Tuesday afternoon. “We’re trying to locate a source and trying to figure it all out. We haven’t put it together yet … that’s something we’ll all try to do and you know hopefully we’ll get an answer soon.”
The game canceled with Purdue scheduled for this weekend will not be rescheduled, leaving the Badgers with the best possible scenario having them complete the 2020 season with just six games on their record. That would meet the minimum number of games required to qualify for the Big Ten Championship.
