When will Northwestern lose? ESPN’s FPI predicts remaining schedule for the Wildcats

Northwestern is off to a hot start this season, winning each of its first three games.

The Wildcats have been especially dominant on defense and haven’t allowed a second-half point all season long. Running backs Isaiah Bowser and Drake Anderson have kept the chains moving on offense while Peyton Ramsey manages the game.

But how long will their success last?

Here’s how ESPN’s Football Power Index projects the remainder of Northwestern’s schedule:

  • @ Purdue: 64.2 percent chance to win
  • Vs Wisconsin: 20 percent chance to win
  • @ Michigan State: 87.2 percent chance to win
  • @ Minnesota: 67.7 percent chance to win
  • Vs Illinois: 90.2 percent chance to win

If that holds true, it would give the Wildcats a 7-1 record in the regular season and a second-place finish in the Big Ten West.

Northwestern’s game against Wisconsin could prove to be a de-facto Big Ten Championship play-in game.

It’s also possible the Badgers won’t be eligible for a division crown, as they’ve already missed two games due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Wisconsin must play at least six games to be eligible for a division championship, per Big Ten rules.

Northwestern’s Week 4 contest at Purdue will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
