Penn State TE Pat Freiermuth staying loyal, ‘hasn’t thought’ about opting out

Projected by many to be the second-best team in the Big Ten East in 2020, the Penn State Nittany Lions’ 0-3 start is as surprising as anything in college football this fall.
Despite the program’s winless status, one of their top players, junior tight end Pat Freiermuth, made it clear on Tuesday he is committed for the duration of the campaign.

After a standout freshman season in which he caught 26 passes for 368 yards and eight touchdowns, the Merrimac, Massachusetts native was even better as a sophomore, hauling in 43 passes for 507 yards and seven scores, earning second-team All-Big Ten Conference recognition.
Through this year’s first three games, Freiermuth has recorded 16 receptions for 197 yards and a touchdown.
Penn State will battle another program looking for their first victory this fall, the 0-2 Nebraska Cornhuskers, on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on FS1 in Lincoln.
