Ohio State’s game this week is cancelled because of a COVID-19 outbreak by Maryland. However, Ohio State coach Ryan Day believes the extra time can pay dividends as they prepare for No. 10 Indiana’s high-powered offense.
During his weekly radio show, Day said that once Ohio State received word that Maryland couldn’t play, they immediately shifted their focus to fellow undefeated Indiana.
Ryan Day said it was “like fast and furious” moving from Maryland prep to Indiana prep.
“All of our attention last night and today went to Indiana. Anything we do now is a bonus.”#iufb— PaulGable (@PaulEGable) November 12, 2020
Day was complimentary of Indiana’s offense, anchored by Manning Award QB of the Week Michael Penix Jr.
Ryan Day notes Indiana has a “big” passing game.
“It will definitely be a challenge for our secondary.”#iufb— PaulGable (@PaulEGable) November 12, 2020
The Indiana offense will pose a major challenge to Ohio State. Indiana is averaging 37 points per game and has amassed 13 touchdowns this season, 7 coming from Penix Jr.
Ohio State is ranked fifth in the B1G in team defense and points per game (23.0), and is sixth in passing yards per game (223.3). Ohio State has been middle of the pack in the conference at forcing turnovers per game, currently in seventh (1.7).
Ohio State leads the all-time series 76-12-5 and hasn’t lost to Indiana since 1988. The top-1o showdown is slated for Nov. 21 at Ohio State (11 a.m. CST/FOX).
