Ohio State men’s basketball team got a big boost to its 2022 recruiting class on Friday.

Eleven Warriors reports that Roddy Gayle, a shooting guard out of Youngstown, New York, is headed to Columbus after announcing his commitment to the Buckeyes.

Per 247Sports, Gayle is a four-star recruit. He’s No. 76 amongst all Class of 2022 prospects, No. 7 among shooting guards and No. 1 among all New York recruits.

Gayle certainly had other top-end schools to choose from. Other schools who had offered the Lewiston Porter High School star include Syracuse, Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Marquette and Georgetown.

Gayle said he enjoyed how Ohio State plays under head coach Chris Holtmann. Assistant coach Jake Diebler was the coach who spoke with Gayle the most.

So far, the Buckeye recruiting class for 2022 is just two players, but it’s very early. Bowen Hardman is the other recruit set to make his way to Columbus. Hardman is a three-star shooting guard.
