While the Detroit Lions are going to miss their No.1 receiving target Kenny Golladay on Sunday, Matthew Stafford will be able to have his secondary target, tight end T.J. Hockenson back on the line.
The former Iowa Hawkeye is expected to suit up for the Lions for the Sunday afternoon game with the Washington Football Team. He was previously labeled as questionable with a toe injury.
Hockenson missed practice on Thursday with the injury, but was able to return on Friday to practice in a limited capacity. After missing the final four games of 2019 with an ankle injury, he has been able to play all eight games of 2020.
On the season, Hockenson has established himself as a top tight end in the league, ranking sixth in receiving yards and is tied for third in receiving touchdowns.
Head coach Matt Patricia commented this week, with high praise of Hockenson’s toughness.
“He pushes through a lot of stuff,” Patricia said. “Tight end in the NFL is not an easy position. You’re blocking, you’re catching, you’re in a lot of different positions.”
