FOX analyst left with ‘nothing’ after Michigan’s loss to Wisconsin

Michigan was supposedly at rock bottom after last week. Then, Wisconsin came to town.

A new rock bottom has seemingly been found.

On Saturday night, Michigan got pushed around and simply humiliated by Wisconsin, a 49-11 loss made worse by a national, primetime audience that were witnesses to the crime scene. Michigan has fallen, not just out of the polls but out of respectability.

It is leaving national analysts such as FOX’s Joel Klatt unable to come up with an explanation for what is happening.

Michigan came into the year ranked and expected to battle for a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game. But now they’re not just fighting for relevancy at 1-3, they’re also hoping to simply have a winning record in 2020.

Those meager expectations with four games left in the season are appalling for a program as storied as Michigan, not to mention with an alumni and donor base that expects the very best and a competitive team.

What was seen on Saturday night in the ‘Big House’ was far from a team ready to compete for conference titles let alone simply be competent.

Wisconsin more than doubled Michigan in total offense (468 yards to 219 yards), on first downs (26 to 10) and turnovers (the Badgers didn’t have any while the Wolverines had two turnovers). Even penalty yardage was lopsided with Wisconsin having just one penalty for five yards while Michigan had 40 penalty on four whistles.

At the end of the day, Michigan showed that they’ve fallen from respectability this season under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Four straight bowl losses and no conference titles is leading to this season of discontent and plenty of analysts like Klatt unable to explain what is happening to what was once a relevant program.
