Northwestern jumped four spots in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, making this Saturday’s game against Wisconsin the highest-ranking match-up between these two teams in more than half-a-century.
The last time that Wisconsin and Northwestern met and both were in the top 20 in the polls was 1962.
With a dominant 49-11 win at Michigan on Saturday night, Wisconsin (2-0) is up to No. 10 in the poll. Northwestern has yet to play a ranked team this year but put together another solid performance in beating Purdue on the road on Saturday.

They are among four Big Ten sides in the poll. Ohio State at No. 3 and Indiana at No. 9 are the other two ranked programs from the conference.
The game is a big one for both teams, with Wisconsin able to take a big step forward and put together another quality win in a season that has seen their schedule affected by COVID-19 and testing protocols. For Northwestern, it is a chance to validate their ranking and make a statement against the first ranked opponent they will face all season.
