It’s been quite the day for Jermaine Edmondson.

Earlier on Wednesday, a police report confirmed that it was he who was “slapped” by former Michigan State and current Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, which led to his arrest last weekend. Then, Edmondson’s statement to police was made public, in which he said that he was punched and choked as a result of the altercation with Green.

Now, Edmondson’s days at MSU are over.

Michigan State announced that the fifth-year senior defensive back will transfer for his final year of eligibility.

As a graduate transfer, Edmondson would have the opportunity to play on a team immediately.

It remains to be seen what kind of impact the pending case with Green had on his future, or if that was just an odd coincidence.

Edmondson was listed as a reserve on the depth chart after he played in all 14 games last year. He had his best season to date with the Spartans, totaling 24 tackles, three pass breakups, 2.5 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries.

His role in the 2016 team would’ve likely been with special teams. Edmondson finished his career with 38 tackles, three pass breakups and three fumble recoveries in 38 games.

Dantonio also announced that reserve safety Mark Meyers will transfer the Miami (OH) for his final season of eligibility.

The Spartans still return plenty of talent in the secondary. Vayante Copeland and Montae Nicholson both showed promise as underclassmen while Demetrious Cox and Darian Hicks will provide a veteran presence.
