The exodus of recruits who committed to Penn State under Pat Chambers continues.

On Sunday, we learned that third and final prospect who committed to the Nittany Lions program when Chambers was leading the charge has reopened his recruitment. That recruit would be big man Elijah Hutchins-Everett.

Hutchins-Everett is part of the Class of 2021 and was rated three stars by 247Sports. He comes out of Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut.

Hutchins-Everett was part of a three-man recruiting class that Chambers had built prior to his departure. Hutchins-Everett committed to Chambers despite other offers from schools such as Miami, Iona, DePaul and Villanova.

Chambers resigned from the Penn State program on Oct. 21. The resignation came after comments Chambers made to a former player were revealed. Chambers allegedly reference a noose when speaking to combo guard Rasir Bolton in Jan. 2019.

The school has already announced Jim Ferry as the interim head coach for the 2020-21 season. This is a challenge for Ferry is he’s just basically guaranteed one season of coaching in Happy Valley. You can’t really promise long-term things when you’re basically seen as a stop-gap.

As for Hutchins-Everett, it appears he will have some options now that he’s back in the recruiting game. 247Sports has him as the No. 199 overall prospect in his class.
