After eight players returned positive COVID-19 tests last week, Maryland canceled its game against Ohio State.

With the exception of the infected players, the entire team spent time in quarantine last week prior to leaving on Sunday. A final decision on whether the team will play its game against Michigan State has yet to be made, but Terrapins head coach Mike Locksley said they will prepare for business as usual.

“Until we hear that it’s off, we’ve got to prepare as if it’s the next game on our schedule. And our coaching staff has done a great job of staying out in front and giving our guys a chance, mentally, to stay in the frame of mind that we need to be in to maintain the momentum that we’ve created as a program,” said Locksley.

The team didn’t practice on Monday as daily antigen tests continue to be done, per Big Ten Conference protocols.

The decision, according to a Maryland press release, “will be determined in consultation with University medical staff. An update on testing results will also be provided this week.”

The Terrapins are one of the biggest surprises in the B1G football season so far, with back-to-back wins over Penn State and Minnesota.

Maryland will host the Spartans this Saturday, Nov. 21 with kickoff scheduled for 11:00PM, hopefully.
