Cam Wiley has crossed the goal line for the first time in his college career.

Friday night, Wiley capped an 8-play, 69-yard drive with a 6-yard run to the end zone, scoring his first touchdown with Minnesota. The freshman scored on his 13th carry for the 2020 season. He gave the Gophers an early 7-0 lead over Purdue.

It was an excellent start for the Gophers, who suffered a tough 35-7 loss to Iowa last weekend. Minnesota is just 1-3 on the year.

Wiley entered the game having taken 12 carries for 67 yards. He also caught 3 passes for 10 yards through the first four games on the year.

Wiley committed to Minnesota as a member of the 2019 recruiting class. He appeared in 3 games for the Gophers last year, taking 11 carries for 32 yards.

This year, he ranks third on Minnesota’s rushing leaderboard, behind Mohamed Ibrahim and Trey Potts.
