Penn State safety enters transfer portal after Week 5

Falling behind, 24-7, at halftime, the Penn State Nittany Lions were defeated by the Iowa Hawkeyes, 41-21, on November 21 to drop to 0-5.
The Big Ten’s lone winless team, head coach James Franklin and his staff received some more bad news on Tuesday, as redshirt sophomore safety Trent Gordon entered the NCAA transfer portal.

A product of Manvel (Texas) High School, Gordon played cornerback for his first two years on-campus, appearing in 14 games, and recording 21 tackles (one for loss) and five passes defended.
Making the move to safety ahead of the 2020 campaign, he saw action in three games this fall, but did not record any statistics.
Gordon was listed as the third-team safety on Penn State’s most recent depth chart, behind senior Lamont Wade and junior Ji’Ayir Brown.
Looking to finally record a tally in the win column, the Nittany Lions will battle the Michigan Wolverines (2-3) in Ann Arbor on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET on ABC.
