Bowl game announces location change due to pandemic restrictions

Another bowl game scheduled for the 2020 college football season has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, it’s the New Mexico Bowl making an announcement about a change of plans.

The New Mexico Bowl is still scheduled to be played this season, but will change locations due to the pandemic. It was announced on Tuesday that the postseason game will be held in Frisco, Texas. It will be the second bowl game played in Frisco this season.

“Due to current state guidelines in New Mexico regarding intercollegiate athletics and travel, the 2020 New Mexico Bowl will be staged in Frisco, Texas,” a statement read.

The New Mexico Bowl is a postseason game that has been played since the 2006 season. The game typically features teams from the Mountain West Conference and Conference-USA. Last year, Central Michigan from the MAC appeared in the game.

Last season, San Diego State was the winner of the New Mexico Bowl, defeating Central Michigan 48-11.

Some bowl games have also either changed locations or been canceled due to the pandemic this year.
